This concert features works from the second half of the baroque era when the French Court of Louis XIV held much of the cultural and political influence in Europe. Enjoy Caroline Nicolas’s exquisite talent on the viola de gamba in works by French viol players Marin Marais and Jacques Morel. Savor harpsichordist Byron Schenkman’s masterful artistry in a piece by Joseph Bodin de Boismortier which turns the typical Baroque sonata form upside down with a virtuosic part for the harpsichord. Relish flutist Joshua Romatowski’s dazzling skillset in George Philipp Telemann’s “Paris Quartet” no. 6 in E minor.

Amid these beloved fan-favorite piece are lesser-known gems like Élisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre Sonata in D Major, and Ballet music from Joseph Bologne’s “L’Amante Anonyme” (or “The Anonymous Lover”) arranged for chamber ensemble by Artistic Director Byron Schenkman.
